260 years of uninterrupted history
Since 1755, three generations of Vacheron - Jean-Marc, born in 1731, his son Abraham, born in 1760, and his grandson Jacques Barthélémi, born in 1787 - laid the foundations of what was to become the oldest Fine Watchmaking Manufacture.
1955, the ultra-thin bracelet watch
For its bicentennial, Vacheron Constantin has achieved the feat of creating the flattest manual-winding movement in the world - 1.64 mm - i.e. the equivalent of a Swiss 20 centime coin.
Let's start with the beginning
As you may know, 2015 celebrates the 260th anniversary of Vacheron Constantin who is today the oldest watch manufacture in continuous operation. As a countdown to September 17 which will be the official "birthday" of our Maison we would like to take you through important dates which have shaped Vacheron Constantin to what it is today #vintagefriday.
Let's start with the begining! It was in 1755 when the young Jean-Marc Vacheron decided to set up his workshops in Geneva with the philosophy of creating some of the world's most sophisticated and elegant watches. For more information http://bit.ly/1KwttYn
A partnership that resulted in the Vacheron Constantin company name
We shall be celebrating our 260th anniversary on September 17, 2015 #vintagefriday will take you through the great dates having made up our history and today a very important one as it is in 1819 that Francois-Constantin joins Jacques Barthelemi Vacheron and the name of the company is changed to Vacheron &Constantin.

Artistic Crafts at Vacheron Constantin
The Master Artisans who work for Manufacture Vacheron Constantin are artists in essence. They are endowed with the unique gift of creating emotions. Passed on from generation to generation, from master to apprentice, their expertise has shaped a collective memory This tradition, perpetuated by Vacheron Constantin since its founding in 1755, gives rise to authentic works of art representing exceptional combinations of artistic crafts, from the movement all the way through to the dial. Above and beyond the technical prowess they enshrine, these creations celebrate an artistic vision of time and tell of stories inspired by arts and cultures from around the world.
Artistic Crafts - Illuminated Knowledge
This exclusive collection of Artistic Crafts - Illuminated Knowledge takes its inspiration from the Aberdeen Bestiary, a rare twelfth century manuscript famous for its ornamentation and preciously kept at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland. Each model is illustrated with a symbolic creature taken from the manuscript and pays tribute to the art of miniaturization using Grand Feu enamel to reflect illuminations and engravings drawing on calligraphy techniques.
Vacheron Constantin at the heart of the Artistic Crafts for 250 years
For the fifth year running, Vacheron Constantin renews its support for the European Artistic Crafts Days. For the public, these European events provide the opportunity to discover craftsmen and their sometimes unknown or forgotten ancestral expertise. For the prestige and sustainability of the Artistic Crafts, the Manufacture participates in exceptional events in French-speaking Switzerland, France and Italy.
Artistic Crafts at Vacheron Constantin
Vacheron Constantin reveals 260 years of know-how, creativity and daring in a commemorative collection of 12 crystal clocks, identical in their architecture but unique in their decoration. Genuine mechanical and architectural feats, these pieces result from a productive exchange between a master watchmaker and 6 Artistic Craftsmen: a master glassmaker, a master engraver, a master goldsmith on crystal, a stone cutter, a master guillocheur and a master enameler. Each clock has a skeleton caliber 9260, hand-chamfered and fitted with constant force mechanism, as well as a 30-day power reserve indicator.
